Education is the answer to everything ... Lloyd Axworthy on the radio a while ago, he's our special envoy to Afghanistan and our guy at the UN ... talking about a trip through Pakistan, seeing thousands of kids at these madrasas [sp?] where the theocratic whackos inculcate them in this taliban stuff, an islamic caliphate ruling the planet, etc .... these were the only kids he saw with sufficient food, as well as the only ones with any schooling at all ... 'it shows the failure of public education in the region' says LA ... nobody other than these god-pushers shows any will to support even basic literacy, so it's wide open for the fascistas

There was a year or so ago a programme on CBC tv called 'Talking to Americans', by Rick Mercer of This Hour Has Twenty-two Minutes fame, absolutely hilarious ... here are his personal top ten favourite responses -

'10) In Chicago: "Congratulations Canada on having
running water in all five states."

9) In Washington, D.C.: "Congratulations Canada on your first
national railroad."

8) In Washington, D.C.: "Congratulations Canada on 268
consecutive days of snow."

7) At Harvard: "Yes, I believe the seal slaughter should be stopped
in Saskatchewan."

6) In Chicago: "Congratulations Canada on making Beaver Balls your
national dish."

5) At Mount Rushmore: "Congratulations Canada, our Eskimo
neighbours to the South, on your new Mount Mulroneyuk."

4) Governor of Arkansas: "Congratulations Canada on preserving
your national igloo."

3) In New York: "Yes, I think Jean Chretien-Pinochet should be
charged with crimes against humanity."

2) In New York: "Yes, I think it is time to bomb Gilles Duceppe."

1) Texas Governor George W. Bush: I'm glad to have the support of
Prime Minister Jean 'Poutine.'

'Poutine' is a quebecois dish, chips [what you call 'french fries'] and cheese curd, swimming in gravy -g- ... Duceppe is the leader of a political party, Saskatchewan has no seacoast, etc ... but one thing Mercer noted all the way through - the openness, the will to respond in good nature, and to voice an opinion on the spot
