You are exactly right. As long as the law allows and the sheep will follow, PRO FORMA and UNRELATED BUSINESS NUMBERS will rule. If people cannot look back even a couple of years and see how hundreds of internet companies made their "books" look fantastic while the reality was pitiful at best and fraudulent at worst, according to what was "legal", then the situation is hopeless. These same tactics are being used by "reputable" companies now as common practice, simply because they are supported by the broker analysts, the media, and sanctioned by the government. Why? Because the US economy IS the stock market. Should a country be able to function without a stock market? Should companies be able to produce and sell without pumping paper? Think about it. Think about why accounting practices have been manipulated and sanctioned. The markets must be held up or???? The question remains, knowing all this, can you manipulate reality forever? Are there economic laws that are immutable? We will soon find out. I remain, SOROS
