hi limtex,

Water is going uphill unless the investment community knows that the estimates are going to get blown away next year

short-term equity behavior is erratic and hard to predict. if it were otherwise, daytraders could become billionaires like Buffett. last year the stock doubled from its summer low, but that could not have really been anticipating November 2001's results. so why should we think today's (and recent) action anticipates next year? like grantham said, throw some feathers in the air from a tall building and you cannot predict their flight or how long they will stay aloft. but eventually the weight of gravity ends their flight and brings them to terra firma. i sure like that analogy.
