They are pretty irrelevant when it comes to 3D, but they process 2D fast enough.

Graphics capability of Intel chipsets is a cripple even in 2D, it is sufficient only for low end. There is a limit of how much memory it supports for the graphics buffer, resolution, color depth and refresh rates.

As far as I know, the graphics capabilities of Intel chipsets have been way below even the ATI integrated chipsets, (and ATI integrated chipsets are no picnic either).
