Obviously he want them sued because he wants to put them out of business. He knows an honest assault on the 2nd amendment won't work because so few Americans agree with his agenda. So since the ends justify the means, why not try a little dishonesty.

Besides, the trial lawyers might rake in a couple billion that can be used to elect more democrats. Win win win.
