Agreed. Deflationary collapse will be faster, 'cause their model inadequately compensates for deteriorating credit quality and high unemployment. Plus, they self-insure a lot of their own paper (which is absurd...talk about multiplying the counterparty risk!)

I'm thinking 2003 leap puts is the way to go, add more if the stock gets to 90.

reaper,

i've been going over some of your fav's. what i would like to do is use any upcoming strength to short the weakest of the weak and hold through the new year.

so far i'm focusing on these:

MXT
ACF
SMTF

there are a lot of other good ones, but it seems less risky to me to short the ones that have already proven they're going to the celler. once they have made their move, i'm gonna consider some of the bigger boyz i.e. FNM, MBI and ABK.
