My position is that, historically, the term "states' rights" has been associated with segregation, lynchings and other obscenities against humanity. A democracy cannot flourish if states are allowed to override the common good of the nation.

Also, and I have made the point before, there's nothing to stop so-called liberal states from, in turn, using the concept of "states' rights" to further their own agendas in the event the Supreme Court and the other two branches of government become more right wing and try to impose ultra-right-wing ideology on the rest of the country.
