That explanation makes a lot of sense. I had just gotten used to just looking at the daily P/C (or just looking at the past week or so). What matters is what has been happening over a period of time and P/C moving averages makes a lot of sense and need to be considered as well.
I usually look at the index P/C (which usually well over 1) as more of an indicator than the equity P/C because larger traders would be more involved in the index p/c.
