Bill, of course the proposed settlement doesn't say anything about the consumer. It was written by Microsoft and Dubya's DoJ, who have no concern for the consumer. You should read the court transcript, the Findings of Fact, and the Appeals Decision. The Appeals Court talks quite clearly about how lack of competition is bad for consumers. Judge Jackson, like him or not, was equally clear about this.

Let me ask you this: Why do you think there is such a thing as antitrust law? Might there be a reason to try to bolster competition? Might that be one of the basic principles behind capitalism?
