Tom,
I agree in principle. Maybe I am too cautious - but that comes from being roadkill too many times. I'm about 80% short now and just trading the swings on the other 20%....margin? That is just to make them double some of these POS to cramp me and to trade on. I'll bring more out when I see the turn.
Right now...what I think I am seeing is reflected in the Rydex ratios. I have never been a big 'conspiracy' person but I think there is ample evidence of a 'Plunge Protection Team' over the last few weeks. I have wondered and have seen the question voiced elsewhere...How deep are their pockets?
The 'stealth' swings made me think about that and who has the money. Simply put - all the PPT has to do is buy. Then they allocate to the mutual funds at the end of the day. Simple...the money moving as reflected in the Rydex ratios is going somewhere. 'They' make 1 -2 % on the intraday swing and commission whether it makes money or not and they have their money at the end of the day. Ready to gouge anything with a short position one more day.....and I will trade with them...that is what I see.
Is it limitless? No. But money goes into funds everyday. And when/if it all crashes down....no one takes the fall. No ones fault at all...just economic conditions. Sorry but your IRAs and 401s underperformed this year...
I suppose that makes me bullish...for me in the sense that I am not committing to this being the top or that it can't be held here. I'm sitting on my 80% and trying to average up.
Maybe I looking for the man on the 'grassy knoll' or watched too many X-Files...

At least I will be averaged up near the high on my positions...probably time to revisit 'defensives' since the have been declining somewhat since the 'bubble' has been re-invented. "It" is coming...just as sure as God made little green apples...I'm not convinced that it is tomorrow...or next week. (Says the person with no longs...)
