Faber or Niles inferred today that this could be a ploy on the part of the Hewletts to obtain further concessions such as a guaranteed spin-off of the pc division if they vote for the deal.
Maybe the Hewletts are buying up CPQ shares to pick up the extra dollar spread they created with the latest news. Then they can sell them off as CPQ rises when they cave in and agree to the merger.
