You want hypocrisy? It's not something I would prefer. For a while I thought he would actually be OK- -not anything like what was being claimed. I have to do a little speculation as to what you might mean here, but I think that what the critics claimed as the positions of Ashcroft, were Ashcroft's demonstrated positions. At the hearings, he pretty much denied that he would be influenced by his personal beliefs, sic only uphold the law, but there is so much latitude in that statement that he's quite capable of implementing his ideology within that context. Frankly, I see that as pervasive within this Administration. If the GOP actually lived up to what they said their core values were [values independent of specific issues] I'd be the first one to sign up as a member of the GOP. IMO, past Administrations actions are no justification nor are their past actions even terribly important. Today is now and this Administration is now. jttmab
