It isn't radical at all. Productivity advances at 2.5% per year and has done so for hundreds of years. Several months ago a research institute was quoted in this thread which had done extensive studies on productivity and reached this conclusion. This is consistent with what many other studies have shown over the last 50 years.

Why does FED make a different argument? Because they need to rationalize another agenda and they won't reveal that they intentionally admit a certain degree of inflation. They have stated that they believe that a certain degree of inflation is critical for economic health, but they claim that's natural. No inflation has ever been admitted that doesn't accelerate. FED will have to allow inflation to rise in order to maintain the appearance of economic health.
