I apologize if you were hurt, and accept that I misunderstood, and that it was because I hadn't read the thread. I was shocked and hurt by what I (mis)understood you to be saying to me and didn't know there was anything to "check." Had it been penni who posted to me in that way, and had I been equally ignorant of background, I would have assumed there was something to check, of course. I think there was probably a way our friendship could have survived my misunderstanding and hurt feelings. It hasn't, though, which means it was a faux-friendship in any case, n'est-ce pas? BTW, I think you get to take the position either that I didn't understand your comment because I missed an earlier context or that I have no sense of humor. You don't get both.
