I had my watch ticking to see how long it would be before you sent me your standard "it was about perjury, obstruction of justice bla bla bla" reply. How many times have you sent that my way now? Must be at least a dozen.

Fact: No president in American history had to govern for two terms while at the same time fending off an inquisition of unlimited time and money led by right-wing fanatics.

The witch hunt was predicated on "finding something ... anything ... to discredit this highly popular president." The "something" turned out to be a sexual dalliance with an immature intern, and then there was a "gotcha" when Clinton played semantic games to defend his inappropriate behavior.

An impeachable offense? Absolutely not, as exemplified by the fact that the Republican pit bulls couldn't even round up a majority vote on either charge amongst the senators, much less than the requisite two-thirds majority.

The lasting image of the impeachment proceedings for me was watching Hank Hyde, who left his wife and broke up his family for "another woman," march to the Senate with a smirk on his face with the papers of inquisition ... er, rather, impeachment.

<<Impeachment was called for due to his perjury, obstruction of justice, fabrication of
evidence, misuse of office, etc. The old "impeachment was too severe" demolib mantra
is totally bull.>>
In retrospect we must thank those who voted against clinton's removal from office as gore would have become president and surely, as an incumbent, he would have probably been re-elected. All five versions
of him. God works in mysterious ways.
