My comment was not limited to just JEDEC, I meant all standards bodies..

For example, UMTS (WCDMA) and how those companies were trying to limit the scope of Qualcomm's IP....

if this means fraudulent practices can't be used to secure a patent

The fraud and the breadth of the patent were two entirely separate issues.

Secondly, the judge did not invalidate the patent because of fraud. The judge limited the patent to an extremely narrow interpretation.

Therefore, in view of this decision, any company that tries to assert their IP rights in court may face a similiar challenge....
