So how big is a 6 football field sized area? The regulation NFL football field is 120 yards long and 53 yards & 1 foot wide. Let's call it 120x50 = 6000sq yds. Since Area = pi * radius^^2 for a circle radius = SQRT( Area / pi) = SQRT( 6000/ ~3 ) = about 45 ft So the diameter of the cleared area is about 100 ft which agrees with the 120ft diameter number we read in a report earlier today.
