The fact that the article ran on the front page of today's Washington Post should ensure that the situation gets a lot of scrutiny. I don't know what to make of it, myself, but eccentric, even dotty, rich people do pop up as strange players in history from time to time.

Rich folks in far off lands cause a lot of havoc.
Rich folks should stick to making money or tax deductible humanitarian aid. Ostentatious spending is fine by me too as it does relatively little harm to other people. Estate taxes should deal with their foreign policy ambitions - via the government.
9/11 caused by committed rich arab guy hiding in the mountains.
Punjab terrorism was sponsored mostly by sikhs in Canada US etc.
Sri Lanka terrorists are funded by Srilanka Tamils in Europe Canda and other foreign countries.

Isn't it illegal for corporations to engage in such activities?
