ARMONK, NY AND MEMPHIS, TN -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 08-11-2001 -- IBM and FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) have teamed to offer small-business customers a variety of each company's industry-leading products and services at reduced rates. The program is designed to help small businesses operate with lower costs and improved efficiency.

IBM is offering qualified FedEx account holders a discount on an assortment of its most popular software and hardware products. Conversely, IBM small-business customers can register to receive a discount on FedEx Priority Overnight®, FedEx Standard Overnight® and other U.S. domestic services. The discounts are available now at the Small Business Centers located on www.ibm.com and www.fedex.com.

"This cross-discount arrangement opens the doors on both sides," said Raymond Boggs, vice president of Small Business Research at IDC in Framingham, MA. "It's a win-win-win situation for IBM, FedEx and, most importantly, the customers."

FedEx customers can access the available discounted IBM products by going to www.fedex.com and selecting the FedEx Small Business Center, Fedex Special Offers. A link will then take them to a customized Web page at www.ibm.com. Customers may then place orders online or call a special 800 number.

"Since 1993, FedEx has offered a wide range of shipping and service solutions tailored to the needs of small-business owners," said Brian Philips, vice president of U.S. Marketing for FedEx. "Small businesses will benefit by taking advantage of these competitive delivery rates, resulting in faster speed-to-market, reduced costs and the most reliable, time-definite service in the industry."

IBM has placed a permanent link on its Small Business Center at www.ibm.com/smallbusiness that provides instructions on how to receive the discounted rates. The alliance offers FedEx customers special savings on hundreds of IBM products and services including:

I. ThinkPad™ Notebook Computers
II. IBM Office and Home PCs and Intel-based servers,
including the IBM NetVista™ and IBM eServer™* xSeries™

III. All-in-One PC
IV. Flat Panel Monitors
V. Scanners, Printers, Back-Up Drives
VI. Award-winning software such as Via Voice

"IBM is committed to helping small businesses -- one of the fastest growing sectors in the computer industry -- find affordable, industry-based solutions and services to maximize their full growth potential," said Jay Nalli, vice president, IBM Small Business, Americas. "Leveraging the Web to offer a combination of FedEx services and industry-leading IBM technology will help small business achieve the same e-business benefits of lower costs and enhanced efficiency as IBM's largest customers."
Both new and present customers are eligible to take advantage of this program.
