Thanks for the instant analysis from the National Review. At least it's a step up from newsminimum.com.

Any attempts by Repugs to place the blame for 9-11 on Bill Clinton will be thoroughly repudiated by the American public ... similar to when Bob Dole in the VP debate in '76 accused Mondale and the Democrats of starting all the wars in the 20th century.

American public ain't stupid, pal.

Is that like Falwell and Robertson blaming abortionists in part for the evil befalling the US?

Gao seng,

This is the typical modus operandi of Bill Clinton, Hilliary and the rest of their demolib minions and cronies:
Define a problem (in this case the WTC tragedy) in the context of victims and perpetrators. It does not mater how flawed the thesis. Clinton then positions himself as saviour for the victims. What happens next is simple, slick and panders to those who typically take little or no responsibility for their own actions. Anyone attacking the thesis is represented by clinton as against the victimized group. The mainstream press seldom challenge him on it.

It is a divide and conquer strategy and he has used it continually in the past in attempts to socialize medicine (drug and insurance companies), extort money from tobacco companies (against children), raise taxes (pay their fair share), social programs (mean spirited conservatives) Monica-gate (vast right wing conspiracy) .

Bill Clinton, however is his same old self — content to pass the buck — blaming the Founders, the crusaders, and anyone else in sight for the attacks of September 11. He is entirely unwilling to accept any responsibility for what occurred on his watch. Before, he has pardoned the unpardonable; now he has justified the unjustifiable.

The essence of Bill is to take no responsibility for problems, to take all the credit for anything positive and to place a schism between classes, races, religions and sexes.

Palestinians say intifada has failed - report
By Gil Hoffman November, 09 2001

JERUSALEM (November 9) - Most of the Palestinian Authority's top military and political leaders favor a political rather than a military approach to solving the conflict with Israel, a Foreign Ministry research team found, in a report issued this week to the Director-General Avi Gil.

The report states that many of the PA's top officials believe that the intifada has failed and that the time has come to return to the negotiating table. It singles out Gaza Preventive Security Service chief Muhammad Dahlan, Palestinian Parliament Speaker Ahmed Qurei, and PA Chairman Yasser Arafat's deputy Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen).

"Among a significant portion of Palestinians and their leadership, the feeling is growing that the intifada has run its course and a turning point is rapidly approaching," states the first sentence of the report, which was leaked to Ma'ariv.

When it comes to Arafat, the report says that he heads both the militant and pragmatic camps in the PA, straddling the fence between the two.

The report does not discount the strength of militant elements in the PA, but says that pragmatists are succeeding in convincing the masses that an end to the violence will put them in the good graces of the eyes of the world and advance their cause.

According to the report, the change in Palestinian public opinion has been caused by their economic hardships, the end of the rule of law in the PA, and the feeling that the intifada has shifted Israelis more to the Right.

"The Palestinians no longer understand where Arafat is leading them," one top Foreign Ministry official said. "Enthusiasm has died down for the intifada, which left them with no money and an image as terrorists. They're beginning to realize there's something wrong with their strategy."

Peres is expected to use the report to advance his ideas when he begins formulating a diplomatic plan with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon this afternoon at his office in Tel Aviv.
