The deep seated problems you addressed were caused by the likes of LBJ and his great society,ie....a recipie for keeping a certain amount of people enslaved for the purpose of votes one can count on while destroying the United States. They did all in their power to put African Americans back in slavery only this time the shackles were ignorance,drugs and neglect and the teachers unions played nicey nice and made the dream come true,seems that the GOP is still trying to free the slaves,algores daddy made the 'help' swelter in the car while the family dined in style,and the apple did not fall far from the tree,he had 8 years and nothing to do but lie and look in the mirror while playing future president,My God the man could not even debate without being an asshole....... all the while blacks were dying and killing because of his daddies policies and he never lifted a finger

Flap: The problem with the Clinton Speech is that it will be used by the Bin Ladin types to justify what they are doing. He is an ex-president and he should not be making statements which amount to we are paying for our evil past acts. At a time like this he should shut up or be very positive. As for his comments about understanding the muslims, I agree we do need to understand, but understanding does not necessarily lead to better relations. For example, I have studied a lot about Hitler and I understood that he was pure evil and needed to be destroyed. I think I understand the moslem fundamentalists. What I think I understand is that they want to destroy us. If this is the case, we need to kill them first. Clinton would be trying to change their minds,which is far different than understanding them. If you understand them you realize that you can't change their minds. They are like the militant right militia in this country, their minds are made up and they don't want to be confused with the facts. By the way, even if there were some justification for the attack, as a matter of self preservation we would need to take strong action. Little joe

res- No. I am not a hater. I believe in fixing society by digging deep into the heart of America... by turning the U.S. into LBJ's dream of a "Great Society" ... by examining our foundation, then repairing the cracks one by one. Code words for "I will force you to pay higher and higher taxes because my morality demands it". It doesn't matter whether any of the programs worked, whether we could have gotten better results by going a different route, or whether we've created a huge victim class which has lost the spirit of "doing for oneself" in the process. What matters is my morality. And my morality of government can be the only provider is all I can think about. And they say "liberalism" isn't a religion... I would love to see Democrat politicians being honest with the voters and running on this position instead of trying to pretend to be compassionate conservatives. The votes would plummet.
