As for NVDA being an indicator of PC sales- IM just telling it like it is.. I mean, they do sell low end cards to OEM and so its not a bad question to ask them, but I was just putting some water on your thinking because you made it sound as tho they were THE best source for this information and I dont believe that to be true..

Actually, your comments contradict this story.

Nvidia's chips were in two-thirds of all new desktop computers in the third calendar quarter, according to a study by Mercury Research Inc.

Nvidia overtook ATI in the main desktop PC market over the past year by getting new components to market faster than its Canadian rival, analysts said. It also expanded into making chips for notebook computers, though ATI still dominates that market. The companies are the main suppliers of so-called graphics chips.

This is why I look at them as a key indicator for PC demand. Remember that they dominate the Desktop market, which had been very soft over the past couple of quarters.

They were even questioned whether it was just market share gains and the response seemed to indicate it was much more than that.

In addition, since many of the old PCs can't support Windows XP, the number of upgrades sold could be lower than in the past...translating into more demand for new PCs. Whether people need a PC or not is another matter of course. It is a fact that people can get taken in by big advertising campaign.
