AMD pledges to have 0.13 micron bulk parts in Q1, and SOI parts in Q3. No foundry to my knowledge does 0.13 micron SOI, so all 0.13 micron foundry parts will be bulk (unless someone gets something together soon). I thought IBM would have their SOI process on .13u soon, no? Will they offer that for foundry? In any case AMD has made it clear they will have their own SOI .13u process so what will be the status of their bulk .13u when SOI comes on line? F25 will be all flash so F30 will be the only one running SOI. What products will still be on bulk .13 when SOI is ready? Will all these be moved to a bulk foundry and AMD will run straight SOI at F30? Going outside will require a lot of design resources and qualification. EP
