BUT what many "free traders" have mistakenly done is put "free trade" above all else, including patriotism and country. that is wrong. country comes first, even above economy. free trade should serve man, man should not bow to free trade. there is a famous quote that addresses this very issue. "what doth profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his country?" >> btw, when are you going to get back to why alan's bewoved 1994 republicrat congress didn't overturn the bad, bad, bad decisions of the evil lame duck congress? << i already addressed that. i told you i don't speak for alan keyes and i don't speak for the republican party so you are going to have to ask them. for one thing he simply pointed out that if the vote had been put off for a month until the freshman class was sworn in it wouldn't have passed. that does not translate into alan keyes agreeing with everything the freshman class stands for. the reason i didn't spend much time coddling you with this explanation is because it is another lame tactic used by you and others on this thread to obfuscate the real issue. you want to talk about why the republican class of '94 doesn't do what alan keyes wants while avoiding the real issue which is to explain to me why alan keyes is wrong on his view about GATT, NAFTA, WTO, etc. you want another example? the very post i'm responding to! once again you rambled on about pete wilson and falling from hubris and arrogance etc., etc., etc., yet you skirted the issue once again of immigration. you used rhetoric embellished with terms like "republicrats" and "pedro wilson" "beloved 1994 republicrat congress", yet conveniently you gloss over the facts and points of the issue. nice try.
