>> Funny, though, how all you have to do is substitute "imperialism" and "globalism" for "slavery" and "disposession" and you get something that sounds very much like what you've been regaling all of us with the past month and a half. << i understand what you're getting at, but there are clear differences. slavery has nothing to do with terrorists from the middle east attacking us. trying to equate the two is stupid. so is the crusades argument. america wasn't even a nation when the crusades happened. no direct correlation. what i have spoke about is us injecting ourselves into the middle east with troops, military aid, and economic intervention. i believe that the united states terrorizing innocent people in kosovo to achieve our military goals sets a precedent that it's ok to slaughter innocent people as long as you have noble intentions (which we did not although that's what we claimed). well that opens the argument that bin laden and his cohorts are justified in using terrorism to achieve their "noble" goals as well. these are things that are happening in recent times and have a direct bearing on the events of today. furthermore, there were other things about the speech that were pure liberal drivel. clinton essentially said we need to spend more money on aid and education and health care in the region. bullshit. we need to mind our own affairs and let them work out their own problems.
