<I think the individual Taleban soldiers exited Mazar-i-Sharif quickly because they remember that the last time they lost the city to the Northern Alliance there were massacres. There's talk that they are headed towards Kabul, but I don't see how they could possibly get there alive. >

They exited to set a base for next major battle, the Taleban most likely kept the best fighting force around Mazar. They did not want to give up Mazar so easily but they have been softened so badly. The fall of Mazar is body blow to Osama-Omar tactics. Perhaps no less an evil than Mullah Omar or rather Osama bin Laden decided that the losses do not justify a prolonged fight to hold Mazar, they have withdrawn to fight a bigger battle but would they reach Kabul is one question I have. I don’t think so they will be pulverized on their way. Lets see.. The stage of final showdown is being set, the crucial battle if thee fighters reach Kabul will be fought around Kabul and next Kandhar. The analysts feared that the ferocity of the Mazar battle would claim the finest from both the sides; the fall of Mazar is a very major setback to this evil group. Kabul looks to me closer now. Don't forget my 17th predictions.

Hi all; FBI says anthrax likely domestic US nuthatch:

FBI says anthrax suspect probably domestic "opportunist"
South China Morning Post, November 10, 2001
The FBI said on Friday one man in the United States probably wrote three anthrax-tainted letters sent to media and government offices, calling him an "opportunist" who took advantage of the September 11 attacks.
FBI officials stressed they had not ruled out that the person who sent the letters may belong to a foreign network like al Qaeda, the group run by Saudi-born dissident Osama bin Laden, who is blamed for the suicide hijacked plane attacks on New York and Washington. Thousands were killed.

"We're not ruling anybody out but we're certainly looking in that direction now, in terms of someone being domestic," one FBI official said when asked if the suspect was U.S.-based.

"He is likely a person living in the U.S. who took advantage of September 11. He is an opportunist and he took advantage," the official said, referring to the confusion and uncertainty that followed the September attacks.

The letter to Daschle said, "You die now" while the letters to the media organisations said, "Take penacilin (sic) now."

The FBI official said the man who wrote the letter likely knew how to spell penicillin, but misspelled it on purpose. They said the short letters -- which had a total of 39 words -- made it impossible to identify the nationality of the suspect.

I should note that the US has some of the nastiest domestic terrorists in the world. Americans tend to be practical, technologically skilled, imaginative and good with their hands. The only reason we're as lucky as we are is that there aren't any major groups here preaching revenge. Heck, after September 11th even I briefly went through the thought processes of figuring out how I would hook up a really big explosive in an ocean transport container, (I'd use a GPS unit as the position detector for triggering it, so it doesn't matter how long it would take. And I'd add a real time clock so that it would blow up at the right time of day.) And I'm really not that much of a hot head, but I'm guessing that most other engineers thought of something similar.

In addition to the recent destruction of the Federal building in Oklahoma apparently by Timothy McVeigh, there was also the Unabomber, who mailed bombs for years before he was caught. Here's the Unabomber's manifesto, which is pretty much the only reason he was caught:
