Perhaps we can mobilize the National Guard to go out and take home equity loans and issue high-grade commercial paper? If debtors don't get deeper in debt, then the terrorists will have won:

It seems being short dollar denominated assets during a deflation would have a compounding affect. Does this make sense?
Also Im unsure if it would be better to trade gold for the bounce that must accompany the cure for deflation or for the debasing which may occur in the interim.

I wish I knew how Milton Friedman could estimate that the money supply is rising at 10% annually. The only way that could happen would be for the Fed to immediately start restricting the money supply and they seem to have no intention whatever of doing that.

Well, what do you think it will be?

1. rapidly rising inflation, or

2. "liquidity trap" with no one spending, and deflation, or

3. something in between? (What that would be I wouldn't know. I remember a joke from many years ago: "We don't want inflation, and we don't want deflation. I guess what we want is flation.")
