Agree. Maybe less under the present administration.

However, in past history especially during the period of J. P. Morgan and the railroad tycoons the Government's interference was welcome. The railroads protected domains remain a burdensome business even to themselves after highways and trucking took over.
Now we are faced with an ever changing course of high tech inventiveness and innovation that can reverse directions quickly. This characteristic can leave even entrenched major players out in left field with all their toys obsolete requiring very tough and nimble participants to survive competition and change. Witness the present conflict of opinions on HWP's proposed merger with a box company CPQ and without gov't. oversight.

It appears that the market considers this move as high risk.
