Hi Pearly,

As always a fascinating and fanciful view of history from you. I took particlular delight in your ability to locate the nexus of British Empire's residual strength in Cheltenham Glos. Who knew? That's a fact I was unaware of. Do they have a problem with the water there, or just the beer? Seems that maintaining archaic notions of a good society was a fundamentalist screed in the town. The "gawn to the dawgs" list is a classic. Sans doubte!

Re: 10 bales of hay = I less USA soldier killed
Well, that would certainly be a good value. I did have to think for a second about the rationality of the reported Northern Alliance tactic of using cavalry charges against Taliban tanks. That reminded me of the events of September, 1939 to the east of Berlin. And we know how spendidly that horse feed was put to use.

Re: You must admit that Afghanistan was a happier country under the Afghan Monarchy.
I understand your propensity for nostalgia. It'd be hard for me not to agree with you. I'd think the Monarch and his entourage would have been particularly happier. <g>

Re: Give Afghan horses their hay. It's the least we could do.

No, I could see us doing less. OTOH, I'm, frankly, a tad more concerned to move a few hundred tons of wheat for the human population. But that's just a quibble. <g>

Cheerio, Ray
