The baby is just as innocent in a rape. Why kill it? Isn't THAT adding insult to injury?

If you make an exception for rape, than you are willing to kill a baby because of the situation of the mother. Your morality is therefore elastic. Rather than trying to morally justify an exception which doesn't seem to have a logical bases (only an emotional one) why not have compassion and let the mothers decide in general? How could you know what they are going through? Date rape is very common- will you consider that rape?

If you legally make an exception for abortion via rape, the number of reported rapes will SHOOT up. Duh.

I don't have a problem with it either but I'm not the Pope, who, as X might say, could have a different opinion.

However, while I disagree with the Pope on this, I can see where he and others might regard ALL human life equally sacred and worthy of protection.

I have no interest in arguing abortion, I just thought it odd that E would call a spiritual leader evil for counseling against an action contrary his faith.

"I have no problem with a woman aborting the fetus of her rapist." What about incest?

Actually the point is mute. Unless the mother wants the baby she won't be a good mother no matter how the child was conceived.
