The audio bit was so short I must have a problem downloading it -- I did get the 100 million dead bit. Reminds me of the descriptions of the Spanish Flu as described in Boyd's Pathology text. Back to Afghanistan. . . Can you envision a scenario that includes a suicidal terrorist act that leads to irreversible cascade of events with the dire consequences you describe? The Taliban and friends know they are overpowered. They have already sold their daughters into marriage to preserve their family DNA. Are they opting to replay the "into the valley of Death" scenario? As they are over run by the alliance forces a they detonate their small nuclear arsenal. American, British, Russian, and other troops along with the terrorists are vaporized. What next? Contemplate the glory from such a despicable act - at least from a terrorist's perspective. This is far from impossible. Never assume your enemy is sane and rational.
