Head on over to the WHO site and check out the lists. Hemorrhagic fevers of various sorts have been occurring in locations around the world , well, "forever".

The most viirulent deseases are fairly easy to contain since the victims rapidily fall ill and do not travel much. They are also very obvious to everyone (including themselves) making it much easier to identify and isolate the outbreak.
