I don't believe the author grasps the last mile data potential of 3G mobile services for mobile + fixed applications. The FCC decision should increase competition, lower broadband prices, and offer greater choice.

Is it possible that the FCC can do something right?

This could upset some apple carts in the good old US of A...

It would be an interesting way for WCOM to regain some mobile footing after being denied Sprint.

the problem with MMDS is it requires a dish; there are lots of folks living in multi-unit buildings that can't put a dish on the roof.
