I've got the point when RBOC's and other telecom cutting cap-ex like 20-30% in 2002 and still don't understand why the streets still want to own networkers and chips. These telecoms were the cash cows for the last few years and they haven't come back in a big way to support the rise for networkers and chips. They pumped market up good last week. What a scam job.

08:36 ET CIENA Corp (CIEN) 17.18: -- Update -- Company updating guidance for Q4; sees net of $0.04-$0.06 (mean $0.04) and revenues of $367.8 mln (mean $360.8 mln). Company also announced an immediate 10% reduction in workforce. CIEN also expects to record a charge of approx. $1.7 bln to reduce goodwill during Q4; much of write-off related to goodwill from its Cyras Systems acquisition.
