Hi Lemonhead,

It has been a long time since I have looked at this company and I only looked at it superficially. I could never convince myself their business plan could get the kind of penetration they need to make this big winner.

Most of their early sales were for industrial automation of HVAC systems within buildings, where it makes sense if the price of energy is high and where the building is empty during the evening and the overall power demand is high in absolute terms.

In terms of wireless residential monitoring of power, I think the problem with their business plan is that the people who own the infrastructure through which the power is "wheeled" is typical different from the people who produce the energy in the USA. We all know the economics of producing power does not favor the power companies in many states and the artifical spike in power rates has now abated. On the infrastructure side, I could never see an incentive to invest a lot of money in a business that is not generating huge margins and cash flow.

The equation may have changed recently, but it is still not a business model that has a high probability to success in my view. Keep in mind this is not an area I am interested enough in to invest a lot of time to learn the ins and out of the business segment.
