thx shack,

i'm pretty much on the same page with you regarding the CRB and the ongoing deflationary spiral. your deflation thesis pretty much goes hand in hand with declining equities, as reflation is what is needed there. are you looking at this point as a shorting opportunity?

with regard to sentiment, these are the latest #'s:

Fearless Forecasters........: 14% Bulls 62% Bears (11/2)
AAII Investor...............: 35% Bulls 42% Bears (11/7)
Investors Intelligence......: 42% Bulls 33% Bears (11/7)

unfortunately, i do not know how to copy these charts for you. the ff chart does indeed indicate more upside. the other two are quite middle of the road. except for late september, these polls have been of little use to me the entire year. i'm not sure that i understand why, at this point, sentiment MUST turn overwhelmingly bullish before we could sustain any further move to the downside.

after index moves of 20-30% off the lows, a VIX at hard support and retail investors/fund managers lapping up overpriced tech at a top, it's hard for me to see sustained upside.

what do you think about equities in the short term?
