ISRAEL DECLARES ALERT THROUGHOUT COUNTRY November 10, 2001 The Middle East Newsline reports: “Israel has declared an alert of a Palestinian attack in the northern and southern parts of the country. Israeli officials said Palestinian insurgents are believed to have infiltrated from the West Bank and Gaza Strip and are planning attacks in populated areas in Israel. They said four Palestinian insurgents crossed from Gaza into southern Israel, transported by an Israeli driver. Police set up roadblocks throughout the country in search for what officials termed was Palestinian suicide bombers. The attackers were said to have brought with them explosives and detonators. Officials said some of the Palestinians being sought after could be looking for work. They said that at least one is believed to be an insurgent on his way to an attack. Palestinian sources have rejected the Israeli effort. They said the swiftness of Israel's information points to the prospect that Israeli intelligence has infiltrated Islamic insurgency groups…” jvim.com
