I prefer the deep in the money because I am much more likely to get at least some of my capital back even if I am completely wrong. I think that a 50% gain in one year is enough for me.

That also defines my expected holding period. Over a year, all sorts of things can happen to drive the indexes up and down and neable me to get out with a good profit.

At least this is how LEAPS have worked for me in the past.

Most people seem to go for the short-term high risk option plays and try to make up for losses with enough 100%-400% gains. I would rather try to get 25%-50% on every play.

Just my way of doing things. Works for me. So far.
