President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan on Saturday proclaimed a new dawn in relations with the United States, after meeting President George W. Bush. Musharraf told reporters in a joint press conference with the US leader that there were signs that the US-Pakistan relationship, which had distanced in recent years was regaining its momentum. "Pakistan will hope for a very sustainable and long standing futuristic relationship developing with the United States , a relationship which we have always had in the past," he said.

President George W. Bush said Saturday he would back debt relief for Pakistan as a reward for Islamabad's support in the US-led war on terrorism. Bush noted during a joint press conference with Pakistani leader that he had authorized a lifting of sanctions on the Asian nation and added: "I will also back debt relief."
