Paul, Re: "So - AMD expands FAB 30 - and capacity GOES DOWN !!!"

Excellent observation. Is that also like "ASPs go down, but volumes remain constant"? Or "losses increase, but market share decreases"?

How much you want to bet that this quarter, ASPs increase, but market share decreases, and AMD still takes a loss?

Re: No AMDroid ever questioned the "restatement" of AMD's Fab 30 wafer capacity.

Good point, it looks like something in the FAB is taking up more space than initially expected.

OTOH, they stated the capacity of Dresden in terms of output would be 50 million parts to sell per year - which is a little higher than may have been expected.

Maybe they weren't originally expecting to actually use all 9 layers that their process supports, but decided to do so, which would require longer lines (that take up more space) to allow for processing the extra layers, but also smaller die, which leaves the total output roughly the same.

What do you think?
