I was impressed by the idea in People's Daily (#reply-16515323) suggesting the important role that Turkey and Jordan may play. And here are Jack Straw's comments on this same matter.(#reply-16522102)

In a nutshell,the UN would place peacekeeping forces throughout Afghanistan with troops from Islamic nations such as Jordan and Turkey occupying Kabul and other major cities. Under this scenario, these forces would shepherd the transition to self-government.
