Elmer,

History always tends to repeat itself. While AMD, and its shareholders, believe that the "fabless" model is a good, viable option, this model has not worked in the past for other companies, i.e. Cyrix, Nexgen, etc.

Instead of being a "copycat", AMD must find a "niche" market. For example, when Cyrix announced the MediaGX processor, the "all in one" chip. Or, perhaps, AMD should leave the uP business and take on AMCC/PMCS and utilize their production facility that way.

not more than doing the same thing for your own fab and certainly less because you have some idea that the process works to begin with :-)
