Paul, I saw Dirk Meier saying (at the exec. webcast) something like "itanium is an enterprise/niche product due to high cost and power dissipation, while hammer will better address the x86 installed basis needs and provide a performance boon to the 2P-4P midrange customers".

Aside from the obvious question "when will it ship", the argument seems interesting. Besides, Meier is probably the best guy they've got. What do you think ?

Paul, if I'd been posting about unit costs, then selling more units wouldn't have made any difference.

Those with more than a second grade reading ability were able to figure out that I was referring to total costs, for you, I'll spell it out -

Intel's total costs are 4 to 5 times those of AMD - they'd better sell more units.

PS - your posting style here continues to justify your being banned on the moderated thread.

Edit - Wanna_BMW, I see you're slipping to Paul's level, that's kind of sad to see.
