Any shallow attempt to reduce any of this into the guise of "fault" as based on such a tiny window as any 8 years of a recent US presidency borders on the utmost of enthnocentric folly and the tunnel vision easily succumbed to by small-minded local political finger pointers looking for a thumbnail, 20 second soundbite that makes it all too convenient imo.

Each to his own I guess.

As one who admired much about Clinton's presidency, yes indeed.

Small wonder the "Big Satin" concept was such an easy sell.

Perhaps you mean "Satan" here. Either that or I've missed the segue to bedlinens. -g

Well OK, let me go further then. This thread is crippled until this Clinton B/S is dropped. You are doing neither yourself or the Republican party any justice with this kinda talk. Don't push Clinton's behavior on me either, you ain't talking to any Democrat here. You are way out of line on this. I live in the UK remember?

Theodore Parker,

One may discuss the shortcomings of current and prior policy in a reasoned manner.

I specifically stated yesterday that this is not the place to bash former Presidents: not Reagan, nor Bush, nor Carter, nor Clinton, nor political leadership in general.

It is unfortunate that this policy is so foreign to you.

Drop me a PM if you wish to discuss your future participation on the Foreign Affairs Discussion Group.

Very tough crackdown on terrorism now in this country.

<<Here is a snip..>>
Civil rights campaigners have said they will challenge in the European courts government plans to detain terrorist suspects without trial.

[note from PB...That Guy Fawks propaganda stuff from 1605 till now is probably at work on the nations sub concious here -g-]

The emergency powers will be targeted at foreign nationals suspected of terrorism who cannot currently be deported under existing immigration laws.

The move is part of the government's response to the 11 September attacks in the United States.

But while it has Conservative Party support, civil rights group Liberty's human rights litigation unit will challenge the proposed new legislation.
<<end snip.>>

Surprisingly there has also been a "gagging" of the press on news that the gutter press like to report on... some soccer star players stories of "off the field" goals have been gagged. Very unusual. (I posted this story earlier).

Weird. We have a left wing government in control too.
