Israeli killed in shooting attack in central Israel

By Amos Harel and Baruch Kra, Ha'aretz Correspondents, Ha'aretz Service and agencies

Aharon Usishkin, 50, was killed at Kfar Hess on Sunday night.

One Israeli was killed and another suffered moderate-to-serious injuries in a shooting attack in the community of Kfar Hess Sunday night. Kfar Hess is located in the center of the country about 10 kilomters north of Kfar Sava and 20 kilomters northwest of the Palestinian city of Qalqilyah in the West Bank.

According to initial reports, the security officer in the area, Aharon Usishkin, was called to the entrance of the community to investigate a suspicious man. As he arrived the man opened fire on him and a vehicle containing two other people, before fleeing into the surrounding fields.

Usishkin, 50, was mortally wounded and died on the way to hospital. He was the father of three children and had served as the security officer for the past ten months.

Police believe the motive for the attack was nationalistic, saying that the gunman had left a note behind saying that the shooting was a revenge attack.

The wounded man was taken to the Meir Hospital in Kfar Sava. A large number of police are currently searching the area and have set up roadblocks.

Instead of arresting Arafat for ordering the murder of US Diplomats and Citizen, the State Department is turning a blind eye and let him spew lies and hatred.
