Thanks Bill. Looks a bit intimidating, but I'll dive in and see if I can pull it off.

By the way, I just watched part of the introduction speech that Bill Gates gave today at the opening of Comdex. I find this hard to believe, but he just said the following:

7 million Windows XP licenses sold in the first 2 weeks.

That's 2 times as much as ANY other Windows OS launch previously.

Let's see if the media gets hold of these figures and tells the general public.

Dave

Bill: You have struck a chord here. Free Linux is like a carpenter assembling a hammer and saw from the scrap heap. What these guys don't understand is that a computer is a tool and if the O/S to run it isn't worth the price then one should really question whether they need the tool - a computer in this case. Regards. JFD

That depends on what you mean with do-it-yourselfers. If you mean people that would like to create a business that competes with Red Hat, you are probably right. But people who are not good programmers, should stay away from kernel.org. Instead I would recommend

linux.com

It doesn't choose the distribution for you - so go with Red Hat if you live in the U.S. or English language area, and SuSE if you live in a German language area.
