40% of Singaporeans cash in New Singapore Shares

sg.news.yahoo.com

Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said he is surprised that 40 percent of Singaporeans have chosen to cash in their New Singapore Shares.
But Brigadier-General Lee said he is not too concerned about the high number as not everyone did so because they urgently needed the money to meet their expenses.

General Lee and his team of MPs for Ang Mo Kio GRC were out in force on Sunday, meeting residents as part of tree planting day.

It was also a time for the MPs to explain to residents changes in their constituency, due to the boundary changes, after the General Election.

For example, the body which manages Ang Mo Kio GRC, the Ang Mo Kio Town Council, will be renamed and reorganised.

In addition the Community Development Council will also be renamed and merged to form the Central CDC.

Its work is to help dispense aid to those in need in the community, something which the New Singapore Shares could also be used for.
