I wish I knew more about the flat panel industry. Some of the players are PANL, GNSS, KOPN and PXLW. Here is my first impression and maybe somebody can comment further:

PANL wants to introduce OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) to the market. Always a hard thing to do. You are asking mfg to change in a big way. Who knows? If it is super better maybe somebody will use it in a big way. I would stay away.

GNSS is the most liked of the bunch. I wish I knew more about what % of the market they control and whether some of the large Japanese display makers compete with them.

KOPN - They do cell phone screens, etc. Stock does not seem to impressive. Almost all cell phones seem to be headed toward displays but I don't know whose they will use.

PXLW is another stock in the flat panel display market that is not doing real well for the year. Again I don't know their % of the market.

If I were to bet it would be on GNSS but I would really like to do more research - particularly into who the competitors are. The idea of owning the chip or technology that goes into the flat panel rather than the manufacturing of the flat panel seems the way to go.

Let me know what you find out. It should be interesting.
