WEST BANK HAMAS HEAD KILLED IN GUNFIGHT November 12, 2001

The Jerusalem Post reports: “Senior Hamas leader Mohammed Hassan Reihan, 25, was killed in a clash with IDF forces early this morning. Reihan was shot dead as soldiers tried to arrest him at his home in Tel in the northern West Bank, Palestinian sources told Army Radio.
Some neighbors said Reihan was shot while trying to escape, but others said he was killed when he opened fire on the troops. Reihan was on Israel's wanted list for the 1998 killing of two residents of the nearby community of Yitzhar.

Large numbers of villagers were taken to the village school, apparently for identity checks, the neighbors said. Some 15 Palestinians were arrested in the sweep, according to the report. The army said ‘the soldiers are arresting elements involved in terrorist activity…”
