Cutting jobs should be bullish for Ciena. It allows them another discretionary set of expenses to remove from pro forma earnings. You can't even compare pro forma earnings to estimates of pro forma earnings since they use fuzzy math in arriving at both.

Guess they'll be dumping pro forma by Q2 just in time for favorable comparisons of GAAP earnings since most companies lost money or made little in Y01, in part due to the large amount of goodwill writeoffs due in Y01.
